- In 2008, 18 year old Dai Guohong lost his legs in the horrible Wenchuan earthquake. But rather than mentally check out he rose above his physical restraints to become one of China’s top swimmers.
- A local disabled sports coach encouraged Dai to join as a paralympics swimmer in Sichuan Province. Dai spent up to 6 hours in the swimming pool every day.
- After training for 2 months, he participated in the National Disabled Swimming Championships and placed third in 100 meters backstroke.
